Arrive & Immigration
~25 min · VLC
  • Follow signs to passport control immediately on landing
  • Have onward boarding pass and hotel/address ready for questions
  • Schengen arrivals skip passport control entirely. Non-Schengen queues are usually short, VLC rarely sees the crunch of Madrid or Barcelona. EU eGates available for eligible passports.
Transit into the city
30 min

Metro Lines 3 and 5 run direct from the airport station to Xàtiva and Colón in 20-25 min (€4.90, every 10 min). EMT bus 150 reaches the city for €1.50 but takes 40-50 min.

Explore Valencia
~2h 25m of free time
Take the metro from the airport to Colon (20 minutes, EUR 4.90). Walk 10 minutes to the Central Market (closed Sundays). Spend 30 minutes inside the market looking at the stalls and buying fruit or local produce. Walk 10 minutes northwest into Barrio del Carmen for the narrow streets and street art. Return to Colon metro with 40 minutes to spare.
Return to VLC
30 min back to airport
  • Leave enough buffer - trains run to a schedule and can be delayed
  • Buy your return ticket in advance if possible
  • Set an alarm 70 min before your departure gate closes
Back through security
~40 min buffer before gate
  • Re-entry security at VLC typically takes 10-20 min
  • Check your gate - it may have changed while you were out
  • Liquids bought in the city cannot pass security - finish or bin them
