Arrive & Immigration
~45 min · SZX
  • Follow signs to passport control immediately on landing
  • Have onward boarding pass and hotel/address ready for questions
  • E-channels speed up entry for Chinese residents and some pre-registered foreign nationals. Foreign passport queues are usually 20–45 min; flights from Hong Kong and Southeast Asia clear fastest.
Transit into the city
40 min

Metro Line 11 (Airport Express) departs from Terminal 3 and reaches Futian in about 38 min for ¥7, running every 6–8 min. Business-class carriages at the front of the train cost ¥21. Airport shuttle buses serve major downtown districts for ¥20–30.

Explore Shenzhen
~1h 35m of free time
With 144-hour TWOV clearance, take Metro Line 11 from the airport to Qianhai or Nanshan Station in about 30 minutes (CNY 7). The Houhai waterfront area and Nanshan commercial district are 15 minutes walk from Qianhai Bay Station. Skip any site that requires a tour or booking. Allow 80 minutes for the full round-trip metro ride and give yourself a 2-hour departure buffer.
Return to SZX
40 min back to airport
  • Leave enough buffer - trains run to a schedule and can be delayed
  • Buy your return ticket in advance if possible
  • Set an alarm 90 min before your departure gate closes
Back through security
~50 min buffer before gate
  • Re-entry security at SZX typically takes 10-20 min
  • Check your gate - it may have changed while you were out
  • Liquids bought in the city cannot pass security - finish or bin them
