Changi is one of the best airports to be stuck in. Stay airside and enjoy it.
- The Jewel (T1 connector, no immigration needed): 40m indoor Rain Vortex waterfall, Shake Shack, A&W — free to enter
- T3 food court (B2, post-security): hawker-style plates from S$8, open 24 hours
- Butterfly garden and cactus garden are free in T2 and T3 — good for 30 minutes of wandering
Changi airside genuinely competes with leaving at this window — but a fast city dash is possible.
- Airside: Jewel Rain Vortex, Changi food courts, or terminal gardens — all free and stress-free
- City dash: MRT East-West Line to City Hall is 30 min, S$2.20. Stick to Marina Bay area only
- Back at airport 75 min before departure — SIN immigration is fast but do not cut it close
- Get an EZ-Link card at the airport MRT station for tap-in speed
A proper Singapore city visit. Marina Bay and Gardens by the Bay together take 3-4 hours comfortably.
- MRT to City Hall (30 min, S$2.20) or Bayfront (35 min, S$2.50) for Marina Bay Sands and Gardens
- Gardens by the Bay outdoor grounds are free; Cloud Forest and Flower Dome cost S$28 combined
- Chinatown or Little India are 35-40 min from the airport by MRT and easy to navigate on foot
- Transit is so reliable that 60 min back-to-airport buffer is enough
Singapore is one of the easiest long-layover cities: safe, efficient, and excellent food at every price point.
- Chinatown and Kampong Glam (Arab Street) are walkable from each other — allow 3 hours for both
- Maxwell Food Centre and Lau Pa Sat hawker centres: the best value meals in the city, S$4-10 a plate
- Little India is 35 min from the airport by MRT and very different from the city centre
- 60 min return to airport is safe — SIN runs like clockwork
