Before you plan a trip into the city
Destination airport
SIN is a sight in itself. You may not need to leave at all.
The best of Singapore starts before you exit. Standout experiences sit right inside the terminals, many of them free.

Your layover plan

Arrive & Immigration
~25 min · SIN
  • Follow signs to passport control immediately on landing
  • Have onward boarding pass and hotel/address ready for questions
  • Processes are typically efficient; peak arrival waves can add queue time.
Transit into the city
30 min

MRT access makes downtown trips predictable; taxis are easy but can slow in peak traffic.

Explore Singapore
~2h 45m of free time

Changi airside genuinely competes with leaving at this window — but a fast city dash is possible.

  • Airside: Jewel Rain Vortex, Changi food courts, or terminal gardens — all free and stress-free
  • City dash: MRT East-West Line to City Hall is 30 min, S$2.20. Stick to Marina Bay area only
  • Back at airport 75 min before departure — SIN immigration is fast but do not cut it close
  • Get an EZ-Link card at the airport MRT station for tap-in speed
Return to SIN
30 min back to airport
  • Leave enough buffer - trains run to a schedule and can be delayed
  • Buy your return ticket in advance if possible
  • Set an alarm 50 min before your departure gate closes
Back through security
~20 min buffer before gate
  • Re-entry security at SIN typically takes 10-20 min
  • Check your gate - it may have changed while you were out
  • Liquids bought in the city cannot pass security - finish or bin them
