At OSL, stay airside—use lounges and cafés, as distance and security make exits inefficient.
Stay airside for layovers under 6 hours. The 19-minute train is fast, but round-trip transit, airport security, and customs eat nearly 2.5 hours. Less than 6 hours leaves too little time in the city to justify the expense and transit time.
Take the Flytoget to Oslo Central (NOK 230, 19 minutes). Walk to the waterfront at Aker Brygge in 15 minutes. The Nobel Peace Center (NOK 180) and Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art are both within a 5-minute walk. For lunch, try Fiskeriet at Youngstorget for fresh seafood around NOK 250 to 350.
With 10 hours, add the Vikingskipshuset (Viking Ship Museum) on Bygdoy. Bus 30 from downtown takes 20 minutes and costs NOK 42. The museum holds three 9th-century ships and takes 1.5 hours. Return via the same bus before heading back to Gardermoen.
