Your layover plan

Arrive & Immigration
~45 min · LIN
  • Follow signs to passport control immediately on landing
  • Have onward boarding pass and hotel/address ready for questions
  • Mostly Schengen and domestic arrivals, so immigration queues are minimal. The handful of non-Schengen flights are processed quickly at the single arrivals hall.
Transit into the city
30 min

Metro M4 from Linate Aeroporto reaches San Babila in central Milan in 12 min, every few minutes, €2.20. Bus 73 from the terminal also serves San Babila in about 25 min for the same fare.

Explore Milan
~2h 10m of free time
We recommend you stay airside: Milan airports are distant and transit time eats short layovers.
Return to LIN
30 min back to airport
  • Leave enough buffer - trains run to a schedule and can be delayed
  • Buy your return ticket in advance if possible
  • Set an alarm 65 min before your departure gate closes
Back through security
~35 min buffer before gate
  • Re-entry security at LIN typically takes 10-20 min
  • Check your gate - it may have changed while you were out
  • Liquids bought in the city cannot pass security - finish or bin them
