Mexican Peso (MX$). Cards accepted in the Hotel Zone and tourist restaurants, but keep pesos for taxis, small vendors, and tips. Bank ATMs in the city give better rates than airport exchange bureaus.

Spanish. English widely spoken in the Hotel Zone, tourist restaurants, and at the airport.
Visa
Most Western passports (US, Canada, EU, UK, Australia, New Zealand) enter visa-free for up to 180 days via the FMM tourist permit issued on arrival. Verify before travel, visa rules change.
