The insider's guide, from travelers who've actually been through.
CGK’s T3 is modern and comfortable – a decent place to wait. The city is not. Jakarta traffic can push a 75-minute journey to 90+ without warning, and road closures or protests occasionally close routes entirely. The Airport Rail Link to BNI City station takes 50 minutes for IDR 70,000 and is the only option that bypasses traffic; check your ticket terminal (T1) since the rail doesn’t serve T3 directly – a free bus shuttle connects them. Unless you have 8 or more hours and a genuine plan, staying airside is the better call here.
