Most paid lounges sell day passes; confirm price and waitlist at the desk. Peak hours can mean queues for showers.

Traveler notes

  • Evenings can pack lounges; Centurion and No1/Club Aspire often have waitlists.
  • Inter-terminal transfers are slow; know your terminal before you leave airside.
  • Heathrow Express is the fastest into London; Tube is cheaper but slower.

Sleep / Rest

  • No real nap zones; seating only. Light sleepers: eye mask/earplugs.
  • Hotels: Airside none; landside options include Sofitel T5, Hilton T4, Aerotel T3 (T2/T3 access by walk/bus).

Food

  • Quick: Pret, Grab-and-go in every terminal.
  • Sit-down: Each terminal has a few decent brasserie/pubs; T5 and T3 have better picks.
  • 24h: Limited overnight; check info screens.

Showers

  • In lounges above. No common public pay showers.

Luggage Storage

  • Landside Left Luggage in each terminal arrivals. About £8–12 / $10–15 USD per item/day.

Transit to City

  • Heathrow Express: ~15 minutes to Paddington; about £25 / $32 USD one-way walk-up (advance deals cheaper).
  • Tube (Piccadilly/Elizabeth): ~45–60 minutes; about £5–8 / $6–10 USD.
  • Taxi: £50–80+ / $65–100+ USD; time varies with traffic.
  • Buffer: Back at LHR 3h long-haul, 2h short-haul; add more if using taxi in rush hour.

Essentials

  • SIM/eSIM: Airport shops sell UK SIMs; eSIM beforehand is cheaper.
  • ATMs: Decline DCC; pay in GBP. Use bank-branded machines.
  • Water: Fountains/bottle fillers available.
  • Prayer/faith rooms: In terminals; ask info desk for nearest.
  • Wi‑Fi: Free.

Fast City Hit (6–9h)

  • Heathrow Express to Paddington, Tube/taxi to Westminster/Thames, quick walk, back. Leave 3h before departure.

Longer City Hit (10h+)

  • Westminster + Covent Garden/Soho quick stroll. Leave 4h if traveling in peak traffic.
