DXB has three terminals that operate like separate airports. T3 is Emirates’ operation, one of the largest airport structures in the world. T1 covers flydubai and a range of other carriers. T2 handles some Middle East and regional routes and is older and smaller. Immigration at DXB is one of the faster processes in the region: biometric scanning means most arrivals are through in under 20 minutes outside peak windows.

The Dubai Metro Red Line runs from T1 and T3 directly to the city. Emirates Mall station is about 20 minutes from T3. Dubai Mall / Burj Khalifa station is about 35 minutes. Single fares run AED 6 to 15 depending on zones (verify current fares). Taxi to Downtown Dubai takes 20 to 35 minutes in normal traffic and costs around AED 60 to 80. At peak times, traffic can double that. Most nationalities receive a transit pass on arrival or are visa-exempt for up to 96 hours in transit; verify your country’s status before you travel.

Luggage storage is available landside in the arrivals hall if you are exiting the airport. Allow 2.5 to 3 hours before international departure from T3; T1 is typically faster but check with your airline. As of early 2026, most Schengen, US, UK, and Australian passport holders transit without requiring a visa, but verify current entry rules before you travel.
