Traveler notes

  • Peak banks are intense; lounges and security can queue. Arrive early for returns.
  • Terminal 3 is huge; allow walking time.

Sleep / Rest

  • Quiet seating limited; nap chairs sparse.
  • Hotels: Dubai International Hotel (airside T3), plus nearby landside hotels.

Food

  • Good mix of fast and sit-down; Lebanese/Indian/Asian options are solid. Plenty of coffee.

Showers

  • Plaza, Marhaba, Emirates lounges.

Luggage Storage

  • T1/T3 landside storage; about $6–12 USD per item/day.

Transit to City

  • Metro: ~20–30 minutes to Downtown; cheap and reliable.
  • Taxi: ~20–40 minutes; moderate cost off-peak, more in heavy traffic.
  • Buffer: Back at DXB 3h international; add for queues/walking.

Essentials

  • SIM/eSIM: Airport shops sell tourist SIMs; eSIM beforehand is cheaper.
  • ATMs: Decline DCC; pay in USD/let bank convert.
  • Wi‑Fi: Free.

Fast City Hit (6–9h)

  • Metro/taxi to Dubai Mall/Burj area, fountain/lake view, quick meal, back. Leave 3h before departure.

Longer City Hit (10h+)

  • Add Al Fahidi or Souk Madinat; leave 4–5h if peak traffic.
