ADD is Ethiopian Airlines’ home hub, which concentrates multiple long-haul arrival banks and can create significant immigration queues. All nationalities except Kenyan and Djiboutian need an approved eVisa before arriving; there is no visa-on-arrival for most passport holders. Taxis reach central Addis Ababa in 15-30 minutes for ETB 300-500, or a light rail connection runs from a stop near Terminal 2. Budget 35-40 minutes each way plus your visa clearance time before deciding to leave the airport.
