The insider's guide, from travelers who've actually been through.
Billy Bishop’s selling point is proximity: a pedestrian tunnel connects the island airport to the mainland, a free shuttle runs to the city, and you can be at the waterfront or in the financial district in under 20 minutes. For a city stop, this is one of the most accessible airports in North America relative to its downtown. The flip side is the airport itself: it’s small, with minimal amenities, and the only lounge is Porter Airlines’ offering for Porter passengers.

No luggage storage or shower facilities on-site. Security is typically fast. The airport handles only Porter Airlines and a few other carriers, so check which airline you’re flying. Most US connections route through Pearson (YYZ), not here.

Free WiFi, limited food options (eat downtown if you can). With 6 or more hours, walk to the waterfront or hop to King West. Return buffer: back at YTZ 90 minutes before departure. The tunnel and shuttle add about 10 minutes to city transit each way.
