The insider's guide, from travelers who've actually been through.
MEX runs two terminals: T1 (older, most domestic and some international) and T2 (newer, most international flights including US carriers). They connect via a free above-ground transit train that runs every few minutes. The taxi kiosk inside arrivals issues pre-paid fixed-rate tickets – use only those, do not accept offers from anyone outside the kiosk. Immigration can run 30 to 90 minutes at peak times. The Metro is genuinely cheap but the security context makes it a poor choice for layover travelers carrying bags. Mexico City deserves a proper visit; a rushed 3-hour sprint misses the point.
