SJO runs smoothly but every arriving passenger, including those connecting onward, clears full Costa Rican immigration on arrival. There is no airside transit zone. The TUASA bus to downtown San Jose runs every 10 minutes for under $1.25 and takes 35 minutes off-peak. Most nationalities get 180 days on arrival, but bring an onward ticket because immigration officers check.
