What we'd tell a friend

NBO is Kenya Airways’ hub and Nairobi’s main international gateway, with connections across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. The Nairobi Expressway reduced the drive from the airport to the CBD from over an hour to 15-25 minutes in normal traffic (KES 1,500-2,500 plus a KES 240 toll by taxi), making the city accessible on a longer layover. All visitors entering Kenya rather than staying airside need an approved eTA before arrival; it cannot be arranged on the spot. Immigration for transit passengers remaining airside between connections is handled separately from the main arrivals hall.
