Valencia Airport, also known as Manises after the town it sits in, is Spain’s Mediterranean gateway on the east coast, about 8 to 10 km west of the city center. It is a compact, single-terminal airport that handles a strong mix of full-service and low-cost carriers across Europe, which makes it refreshingly easy to navigate compared with the country’s mega-hubs. You will not spend ages walking between gates, and getting from the plane to the city is genuinely quick.

Getting to Valencia

  • Metro: The best-value option. The Metrovalencia station sits right inside the terminal on the ground floor near arrivals. Both Line 3 (red) and Line 5 (green) serve the airport and reach the city center in about 20 to 25 minutes, with trains every 7 to 15 minutes for much of the day.
  • Taxi: A short ride, typically 15 to 20 minutes to the center, and easy to grab outside arrivals.
  • Rideshare and bus: Apps operate in the city, and bus links are available too.

Because the airport is so close, even a taxi stays reasonable, but the metro is hard to beat for simplicity.

Inside the terminal

Expect a tidy, manageable building with cafes, bars, a few shops, and duty-free once you are through security. Free wifi is available. It is not a sprawling place with dozens of lounges, so if you want to relax, the handful of cafes and the single lounge option are your main bets. The upside is that lines and walking distances are short, so you rarely feel rushed.

Layovers and connections

Valencia is more of a start-and-end point than a big connecting hub, so long layovers here are uncommon. If you do have a few hours, the fast metro makes a dash into the old town, the Central Market, or the City of Arts and Sciences very doable. As a Schengen airport, connections between EU flights skip passport control, which saves time.
