Stockholm Bromma Airport (BMA) is the capital’s small, close-in airport, sitting only a few kilometres northwest of the city centre. Unlike sprawling Arlanda, Bromma is compact and handles a modest number of mostly domestic and short-haul European flights from a single terminal. That small scale is its charm, since arrivals, departures, and ground transport are all close together, so you are never far from where you need to be.
Bromma’s big advantage is proximity, roughly 15 to 20 minutes from the centre. The traditional option has been the Flygbussarna airport coach, which runs to Cityterminalen next to Central Station in about 15 to 20 minutes with luggage space and free wifi on board. Be aware that this coach service has at times been paused due to reduced traffic at the airport, so check it is running before you rely on it. Local public transport is a solid backup, since you can reach nearby stops and connect onward via bus and the wider SL network. Taxis and ride-hailing are readily available and, given the short distance, are a reasonable choice if you are travelling with others or lots of bags.
The single terminal is easy to navigate and rarely overwhelming. You will find a selection of cafes and places to grab a coffee, a bite, or a snack before your flight, along with basic shops and free wifi throughout. It is not a place for a long luxury layover, and there is limited lounge provision compared with a big hub, but for a quick turnaround it is calm, clean, and efficient. Because security queues are usually short, the whole experience tends to feel low stress.
Bromma is not really a connecting hub, so most people here are starting or ending a journey rather than transiting. If you do have time between flights, the short distance to the city makes a quick trip into central Stockholm genuinely feasible in a way it rarely is at bigger airports. Just leave a comfortable buffer to get back, re-clear security, and reach your gate, and always confirm the return coach or transport times before you set off.
