Traveler notes
- Downtown Rio location — just 10 minutes from Centro, Lapa, and tourist attractions.
- Domestic flights only plus some regional routes (no major international).
- Much less chaos than Galeão; check-in and security are quick.
- Perfect for short layovers in Rio city center.
Sleep / Rest
- No transit hotel or sleep pods at the airport.
- Downtown Rio hotels are 5–15 minutes away by taxi; excellent options nearby.
Food
- Limited but decent: pão de queijo, sandwiches, coffee at airport cafés.
- Downtown Lapa and Centro have excellent restaurants within walking distance.
Showers
- No public shower facilities at the airport. Nearby gyms or hotels offer day rates.
Luggage Storage
- Limited luggage storage; check with airport information desk for options.
Transit to City
- Taxi: ~10 minutes to Centro/Lapa/Copacabana, around BRL 30–50 ($6–10 USD).
- Bus: Multiple routes from the airport to city center via Avenida Rio Branco.
- Walking is possible to some nearby neighborhoods (5–15 min).
- Buffer: Back at SDU 2h domestic (no international flights).

- SIM/eSIM: Limited SIM counters; better to buy in Lapa or downtown nearby. eSIM recommended.
