Mexico's busiest resort airport with four terminals spread across a large campus. Terminal 3 handles most international traffic (US/Canada carriers), Terminal 2 is mixed international/domestic, Terminal 4 serves select carriers. Expect long immigration lines, especially during high season.

T3's Global Lounge is the best option for most international travelers. Moving between terminals requires the inter-terminal bus (free, ~10–15 min).

Traveler notes

  • Immigration queues can exceed 90 minutes in peak season (Dec–Apr). US preclearance not available.
  • Inter-terminal transfer requires the free shuttle bus — allow 15–20 minutes between terminals.
  • Beware timeshare salespeople in the arrivals hall; politely decline and keep walking.

  • Limited sleep-friendly seating in terminals. Benches have armrests in most areas.
  • Hotels in the Hotel Zone are 20–30 min by taxi; nearby budget hotels in Puerto Juárez/downtown Cancún.

  • Mexican and international options in all terminals; prices are high.
  • Better variety in T3 (international departures area).

  • Available in The Lounge by Global (T3) and The Lounge (T4). No public showers.

  • Luggage storage available in T2 and T3 landside; approximately $8–15 USD per bag per day.

Transit to City

  • Hotel Zone: Taxi ~25 min, ~$30–50 USD (fixed rate from booth). ADO bus to downtown ~40 min, ~$5 USD.
  • Playa del Carmen: ADO bus ~70 min, ~$12 USD. Taxi ~$80–100 USD.
  • Uber/DiDi: Work for pickups, but taxi union resistance can cause issues at the airport.
  • Buffer: Back at CUN 3h international, 2h domestic.

  • SIM/eSIM: Telcel counters in arrivals; tourist SIMs available. eSIM (Airalo, Holafly) recommended.
  • ATMs: Available in all terminals; withdraw MXN. Decline DCC.
