Budapest’s airport is straightforward but the city connection takes longer than you’d expect for a European capital: Bus 100E runs directly to Deák Ferenc tér in about 30 to 40 minutes, and taxis take roughly the same in normal traffic. Hungary is in the Schengen Zone, so most EU and US travelers move through without extra immigration steps. Security can bottleneck during morning peaks; add a buffer.

There are Priority Pass-eligible lounges in Terminal 2, which handles all commercial flights. Coverage is decent for a mid-sized European hub. Some lounges have limited shower access. Luggage storage is available at around $6 to 12 USD equivalent per item per day.

Free WiFi throughout. Standard European food options in the terminal. If you’re heading into Budapest: allow 3 hours back at BUD for international departures, 2 hours for Schengen destinations. Hungarian forint (HUF) is still the local currency: Budapest is not yet on the euro. Verify current entry requirements; some nationalities need visas for Hungary even within a Schengen layover.
