Currency
Qatari Riyal (QAR). Cards accepted at most restaurants, hotels, and malls; cash preferred at Souq Waqif stalls and taxis. ATMs are easy to find airside and landside at DOH.
Language
Arabic. English is widely spoken across the airport, hotels, shops, and tourist areas.
Visa
Visa-free transit up to 96 hours when flying Qatar Airways, open to 100+ nationalities. Many passports also qualify for a free 30-day visa on arrival. Verify before travel, visa rules change.
Transit
Doha Metro Red Line: Hamad International (Terminal 1) to Msheireb for Souq Waqif in about 20 min, 2 QAR flat fare, every 3 to 5 min. Taxi to downtown runs 60 to 80 QAR in 20 to 25 min depending on traffic.
Weather
Hot desert climate. Summers (June to September) often hit 40C+ and humid. Winters are mild and dry, 15 to 25C. November through March is the window for comfortable layover sightseeing.
