Is it worth leaving the airport?

  • Leave with 7+ hours. Under that, stay airside.
  • Visa: Many nationalities visa-free/waived for short visits; check K-ETA/visa rules.
  • Luggage: Storage at ICN arrivals; use lockers or counters.
  • Transit: A’REX Express ~45-60 minutes to Seoul Station; all-stop A’REX is slower; taxis depend on traffic.

3-5 hours: stay airside

Korean food, coffee, lounge for showers/Wi‑Fi. Gate 40 minutes before boarding.

6-9 hours: Myeongdong or palace exterior

A’REX to Seoul Station, then subway/taxi to Myeongdong for street food and shops, or Gyeongbokgung/Deoksugung exterior for a palace glimpse. Leave 3-4 hours before departure.

10+ hours: add N Seoul Tower view or Insadong

After Myeongdong/palace, swing by N Seoul Tower base for a city view or walk Insadong for tea/shops. Return with buffer for A’REX and security.

  • Taxi: Variable; plan 45-90 minutes depending on traffic.
