Nice Layover Guide: What to Do at Nice Airport

Is it worth leaving the airport?

  • Leave with 6+ hours. Under that, stay airside.
  • Visa: US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia visa-free in Schengen. Others must meet Schengen rules.

  • Transit: 20-30 minutes to the center by tram/taxi off-peak.

3-5 hours: stay airside

Sandwich or salad, coffee, lounge for showers if needed. Gate 40 minutes before boarding.

6-9 hours: promenade stroll

Tram to the city. Walk the Promenade des Anglais, dip your feet if weather allows. Socca or pan bagnat (~$10 USD / 10 EUR). Gelato/coffee in Old Town. Head back 3 hours before departure.

10+ hours: Old Town and Castle Hill

After the promenade, wander Vieux Nice and, if time, climb to Castle Hill for the view. Tram back with buffer.
