Is it worth leaving the airport?

  • Leave with 6+ hours. Under that, stay airside.

3-5 hours: stay airside

6-9 hours: quick central loop

Heathrow Express to Paddington, then Tube/ride to Westminster or Soho. See Big Ben/Parliament exterior, a short Thames walk. Grab a sandwich or pub bite (~£8-15 GBP). Leave 3 hours before departure.

10+ hours: add a second stop

Combine Westminster with Covent Garden/Soho or a fast Trafalgar Square look. Return with a large buffer for transport and security.

  • Tube (Piccadilly/Elizabeth): ~£5-8 GBP; 45-60 minutes.
