Is it worth leaving the airport?

• Leave with 7+ hours. Under that, stay airside.
• Visa: Many nationalities visa-free/VOA; others need a visa. If not eligible, stay airside.
• Luggage: Storage at DXB; travel light if possible.
• Transit: Metro to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall ~25-35 minutes; taxi times vary.

3-5 hours: stay airside

DXB lounges are strong—showers, food, quiet. Shop, rest, and be at gate 40 minutes before boarding.

6-9 hours: quick Downtown loop

Metro/taxi to Dubai Mall/Burj area. View fountain/lake area, grab shawarma or a quick meal (~AED 30-70). Leave 3 hours before departure.

10+ hours: add Al Fahidi or Souk Madinat

After Downtown, short hop to Al Fahidi for traditional alleys/museums or to Souk Madinat for canals/souk vibes. Return with a large buffer.

Getting there and back

• Metro: ~AED 8-15 depending on zone; ~25-35 minutes.
• Taxi: ~AED 50-100+; timing varies with traffic.

Money and budget

• Currency: AED; cards widely accepted.
• 6-9h: ~AED 70-150 (metro, meal/snack).
